The Nissan Navara SUV Spotted During Testing
The Nissan NP300 Navara 2016 is a very popular utility vehicle that can meet your business needs. Excitement is building regarding the new Nissan Navara that has not been seen by the public. This SUV that is being developed to challenge the Ford Everest was recently spotted by eagle eyed car industry insiders at a developers show. What did they see and what educated guesses can we make about the new Navara?
A Fully Formed Navara Spinoff?
The car appeared to be encased in a fully formed production body, which would seem to suggest that we are very near to a finished vehicle. It is set to premiere in 2017, and strong rumours suggest that there will be a five seat and seven seater variants available. There is no word yet about the final name for this latest incarnation. The body lines are rounded giving it more than a passing similarity to its stablemate the Nissan X-Trail.
Possible Engine and Transmission Options:
This Navara SUV variant is expected to have a version of the five link rear suspension with coils system found on the ute. There is likely to be a 2.3 litre twin turbo diesel engine that generates 140 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque. This may be paired with either a six speed manual or a seven speed automatic transmission. The will be a dual range 4×4 system in place to extend the utility for on and off road use.
Will This New Navara be Available in Australia:
At the moment there are no concrete details on the availability of this new car in Australia. What we do know for a fact is that the market for more rugged ute style SUV’s is on the rise. All of Nissan’s main competitors in the SUV segment offer similar vehicles here, and it is unlikely that Nissan would not. Nissan Australia CEO and MD Richard Emery said “Having access to a product like a Navara based SUV would be nice” he also added, “it’s purely a concept discussion now with now immediate opportunity.” This sounds like a final decision hasn’t been made yet, and/or there could be a delay before we see this car arrive here.
The Final Analysis:
On the face of it, it would appear that a rugged SUV like the new Navara variant would be a natural fit for Australia. It is likely that the car would be made in Thailand, so importation would be fairly simple. This car in a diesel sport configuration would be a natural replacement for the Pathfinder which is not a separate chassis offering anymore. The Y62 Patrol is a luxury truck, but it is only available as a V8 petrol, and the Y61 Patrol is going to be axed soon.
